Ryanair passengers are being warned to check before they come to the airport. The low budget airline is warning travellers on their ‘Latest Travel Updates‘ page of the latest news.

They note that there could be “potential disruptions to/from the UK” this Friday (January 24) and this may extend into the weekend, as reported by weather experts across the UK.

This is for this is due to sever weather conditions as part of Storm Éowyn. Pronounced ‘ay-oh-win’, it’s set to bring strong winds and red weather warnings which have already been issued for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Experts say that this rare warning means there is a potential danger to life with gusts up to 100mph (161km/h) in some areas.

Ryanair caution travellers: “Affected passengers will be notified via email and the Ryanair app, and we encourage all passengers due to travel to/from UK on Fri 24 Jan to keep an eye on the Ryanair app for the latest updates.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by these weather conditions, which are outside of Ryanair’s control and affect all airlines operating to/from UK on Fri 24 Jan.”

With millions asked to stay at home with schools, colleges and universties closing, The Met Office are warning people to expect damage to buildings. This could mean flying debris, roofs blown off and significant disruption to travel such as on the roads, rail, by sea and plane.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Mike Silverstone is warning: “Storm Éowyn will bring a period of very unsettled, potentially disruptive, weather to the UK through Friday and into Saturday.

“The strongest gusts are likely to be felt across parts of Northern Ireland, northern England, northwestern Wales and western Scotland, where exposed sites could get gusts in excess of 80mph, which has the potential to cause impacts for those in these areas. There will also be some heavy rain, bringing some unpleasant conditions to end the week.

“The initial warning for Storm Éowyn has been issued several days in advance, so it’s important to stay up to date with the forecast as further details emerge in the coming days.”

As reported by Mirror Online, Brits are being warned to not “underestimate” the impact of the upcoming storm. Experts now say that if you live in an effected area, you need to have some essential to hand.

Met Office, Dr Jess Neumann, associate professor of hydrology at the University of Reading, said people should “carry spare warm clothes, blankets, bottled water, a torch, and ensure your vehicle is fuelled and well-maintained. For those at risk of flooding, act quickly. If time permits and it’s safe, turn off your gas and electricity, move valuables to higher ground, and relocate to safety.”
