When it comes to trashy cities, what sort of places come to mind?

Well, if you’re struggling, this travel forum on Reddit isn’t short of answers for you. When a Redditor asked fellow users to “tell me the trashiest, tackiest trap cities worldwide,” nearly 3,000 comments dragging destinations across the globe were left under the post.

The user who lives in the US said: “I love tacky touristy kitsch, and I’m tired of pretending I don’t. I live in the US, where we have no shortage of these sorts of places.”

Already giving a few examples from his home country, including Pigeon Forge in Tennessee and Branson, Missouri, the user requested: “What places like this can you recommend in other countries?”

And there was one UK seaside town that people quickly dropped below.

Lancashire’s Blackpool, home to the town’s pleasure beach resort, was described as “gone way past trashy” and “so tacky” by fellow Reddit users who contributed to the discussion.

According to Manchester Evening News, Blackpool Pleasure Beach resort was named one of the best family-owned theme parks in the world, making a list compiled by attraction industry publication Blooloop.com, but regardless of how good the town’s top attraction may be, that didn’t stop it from making the list.

Several comments mentioned the seaside town located up North.

One said: “Come to Lancashire, England and get to Blackpool. ‘Kiss me quick’ hats, all day karaoke, and all the foods fried, and you can get a rip-off ice cream to top it off.”

In response to the original post, another added: “I’ll raise you x100 by suggesting the height of UK tackiness – Blackpool. Enjoy and thank me later!”

Yet another wrote: “Blackpool in England is a fantastic example of trashy, awful food, awful weather, and guest houses with more rules and restrictions than the Cold War USSR.”

Though tourists on Reddit may have been critical of the northern town, in the last couple of years, Blackpool has welcomed over a huge 20 million visitors annually, so there’s clearly something about the town that keeps people coming back.
