Manchester United are looking to be active in the summer transfer window and are closing in on their second signing of the summer.

The Reds have agreed a fee with Brentford over long-term target Bryam Mbeumo. The deal could see the club pay as much as £70 million for the player, with weeks of negotiations coming to an end.

The player is expected to undergo a medical this weekend and will become the second new signing of the window following the capture of Matheus Cunha early in the window. Both players strengthen United in attacking areas, but the position still remains a priority for United and Ruben Amorim.

Long-term target Benjamin Sesko is a name that continues to pop up in United’s search for a striker. With that in mind, here is the latest on a potential move for the RB Leipzig man.

Transfer interest

United have had a long-standing interest in the player. As reported my the Manchester Evening News, the player rejected a chance to join the club back in 2022 and instead signed for RB Leipzig, but his agent has since paid multiple visits to the club.

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth now reports that the striker is one to ‘keep an eye on’ for United between now and the end of the transfer window as the club look to strengthen their attacking options.

Arsenal links

Arsenal appeared to be prioritising a move for Sesko in their own search for a striker this summer. The Gunners have been in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential move, but they failed to reach an agreement with the club.

The Gunners now appear to have turned their attention back to a move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, who was also a reported target for United. The Sweden international has reportedly now agreed personal terms with the Gunners and an agreement between the two clubs appears to be close.

Arsenal’s transfer U-turn now leaves Sesko available for United to make a move should they wish to do so.

Future ‘hint’ given

Sesko has given a significant indication that he might stay at RB Leipzig this summer.

On Instagram, he shared two photos of himself this week donning Leipzig’s latest 2025/26 kit and holding the No.30 jersey. Accompanying the post, he wrote: “Getting some [flashing camera emoji] for new season.”

The fact that he’s front and centre in Leipzig’s latest kit launch, and is actively promoting it on his social media, strongly hints that he’ll be staying with the Red Bull outfit this summer.

Player stance

But latest reports suggest that Sesko would be open to a move to Old Trafford. GiveMeSport claims that the player ‘wants’ to move to United and that he would ‘favour’ a move to Old Trafford over other possibilities.

United are said to be keeping close tabs on the situation at the minute with no formal offer submitted.
