The Met Office has issued weather warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms across the UK.
Across the north of the country, including Greater Manchester, a yellow weather warning for rain is in place on Sunday (July 20). The warning runs from 11am to 10pm, as the region will likely experience showery rain, which could sometimes be heavy and perhaps thundery.
The Met Office says: “Showery outbreaks of rain, heavy and perhaps thundery in places, will move northwestwards from late Sunday morning and through the afternoon before gradually easing during the evening. Accumulations of 10-20 mm are expected fairly widely, with a few places potentially receiving as much as 40 mm, much of this falling in just a few hours. This could lead to some surface water flooding.”
The rain may cause some localised surface water flooding on Sunday, the Met Office warns.
There are also yellow weather warnings for Sunday across large areas of the UK.
Most of Scotland is under a yellow weather warning for rain, which was in place since 6pm on Saturday until 12pm on Sunday afternoon.
