ChatGPT down: AI chatbot appears offline across the globe
No, it’s not just you. ChatGPT, the online artifical intelligence (AI) chatbot platform appears to be offline for some users.
The popular AI tool from tech firm OpenAI is used daily by million of people globally to answer queries, compose and rewrite emails, generate images and perform other automated tasks for personal or business use.
The website Down Detector reported a huge spike in more than 6,000 reports of problems with ChatGPT just before midday UK time on Thursday January 23.
“The web server reported a bad gateway error”, a message on the service’s website read under a declaration of “Bad Gateway”, ther term used when a website cannot load.
Fans of the free to use AI flocked to social media to ask if others were having the same problems.

“Bruh ChatGPT is down again??? During the work day? So you’re telling me I have to… THINK?!”, @KingMusss posted
OpenAI’s official status page acknowedged an “Elevated Error Rate for ChatGPT and API” but said it had been “resolved” at 4:23AM PST, which is 12:23pm UK time.
The site still appeared slow to load, sometimes not loading at all by 1pm UK time.
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, said in December that ChatGPT has 300 million weekly users.
