Morrisons shoppers divided by controversial £1 treat stocked online as some say ‘we’re only in July’
Shoppers have debated whether or not a £1 treat seen on Morrisons website should be stocked in the summer
Eagle-eyed Morrisons customers have spotted that a £1 treat has been stocked on the store’s website. However the availability of the snack has proved to be quite a controversial move for some shoppers, with many turning to social media to express their thoughts on seeing the treat on the store’s website, this July.
Shoppers have spotted packets of the Gingerbread Flavour Malteasers Reindeer on the Morrisons website, which are generally considered as a Christmas-themed confectionery.
As customers noticed they were able to purchase the item currently, many have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the festive items being sold mid-way through the year.
Taking to the popular Facebook page Newfoodsuk, one shopper, Mandae Richardson Torri, wrote: “Sorry, have I slept for a couple of months. I thought we were in July.”

A second shopper, Jon Davis, added: “Is it December already? Time flies, feels like it was only July this morning!!”
A third, Alex Hush, also wrote: “Just in time for Christma….wait…how long have I been asleep?” Another, Jonathan Cooper, added: “Everywhere is selling Christmas, Halloween items already, we’re only in July.”
Outraged at seeing the Christmas-themed treat on the store’s website in July, some shoppers have been quick to brand the decision to stock the snack as “ridiculous”.
Morrisons shopper, Chris Gibson, wrote: “Honestly ridiculous. The next thing on the calendar is Halloween or is it a ploy to trick people into thinking it’s nearly Christmas and start spending money?”
Another shopper, Irene Parkin, then also claimed “They haven’t even got the Back to School stuff out yet.”
But while some shoppers have suggested Christmas treats such as the Gingerbread Flavour Malteasers Reindeer are being stocked “too early”, others have celebrated seeing the treat up for sale.
On Facebook, one shopper, Katie Jordan, wrote: “I don’t get people moaning about Christmas stuff being put out.”
The Maltesers Gingerbread Reindeer is available to buy through the Morrisons website for £1.
