The UK’s exotic beach that is a ‘paradise’ and has ‘the world’s best pub’ | Travel News | Travel

This pretty beach is in a remote part of the UK, but has been branded both “exotic” and “paradise” by visitors.

Sandaig Bay is on the northwestern end of Loch Nevis in Scotland.

The bay is a peaceful spot which was immortalised as Camusfearna in ‘Ring of Bright Water’ – the famous book by Gavin Maxwell telling of his life with his pet otters at this people-free spot.

TV presenter Steve Backshall said that while it can “only be accessed by kayak or by walking [three miles],” it’s worth it to have it “entirely to yourself”.

He raved about the landscape and white-yellow sands too, telling The Guardian: “You look across the straits out to the Cuillin hills on Skye, and behind you you’ve got the towering peaks of Knoydart – gargantuan mountains that drop straight down to the loch.”

He added: “[It’s] the best pub in the world, where I’ve had some of the best nights of my life.

“You can only get to it by sailing, paddling or walking.”

While you’re there, you can visit the much-loved pub, The Old Forge at Inverie which is nearby.

It is often seen as the most remote pub in the UK and it’s a popular place for tourists in the area to visit.

One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “The most remote pub in Scotland. Part of a community buy-out of an old estate.

“The locals are very welcoming and the beer/ale selection is great. There may be local music that visitors can attend in the nearby community hall on Friday or Saturday.”

Another penned: “This has been one of my favorite places to visit. My friend and I travelled from Canada and backpacked from Glenfinnan to Inverie just so that we could visit this pub. The three days of hiking was worth it.

“This pub has great food, a huge selection of beer and spirits and the staff was awesome. A surprise visit by a group of musicians that arrived by boat played throughout the night and made us feel like locals.

“If you are ever considering a visit, don’t hesitate to go.”
